Uh, why is Clapton playing this song with the lick from "Willy and the Hand Jive?" I'm surprised only one other person from 3 months back seems to have noticed it. It's got less reverb than "Hand Jive," but it's damn close. Clapton's been playing "Crossroads" pretty much the same way since about '68. Why mess with perfection?

I like this version. Very "funky". Also love Willie and the Hand Jive, great song.

user
been a while since id listened to some clapton, forgot how powerful his voice is

user
i like it just fine because you know when someone says crossroads you automatically think its gonna be the cream version so people then get out their grade books and are ready to judge

user
well if you played a song a million times wouldnt you get a little bored, mixing it up aint a bad thing. muscians know that.

user
i hear ya..but this version is a big yawn

he's emulating the Robert Johnson version which is very different from the rock and roll version, it's alsmost a Carl Perkins beat. He could rock it out any damn time he wants too, I can guarantee. But that being said, you definately learn the subtleties of the instrument with time, not just shredding. BB king and Santana can do more with 1 note than most. Values change too with age.

THE MAN GOT "THE ONE STRING NOTE"!!!

Not really blues huh ?

Lyrics:
By robert johnson
I went down to the crossroads, fell down on my knees.
I went down to the crossroads, fell down on my knees.
Asked the lord above for mercy, "save me if you please."
I went down to the crossroads, tried to flag a ride.
I went down to the crossroads, tried to flag a ride.
Nobody seemed to know me, everybody passed me by.
I'm going down to rosedale, take my rider by my side.
I'm going down to rosedale, take my rider by my side.
You can still barrelhouse, baby, on the riverside.
You can run, you can run, tell my friend-boy willie brown.
You can run, you can run, tell my friend-boy willie brown.
And I'm standing at the crossroads, believe I'm sinking down.
