best part of the show.

This is Bessie's song!

user
esta version es hermosa sobre todo porque se interpreta un tema tan tradicional. Grande Eric, no abandones nunca la Tradicion musical de EE.UU

user
It was written by Jimmy Cox in 1923. Bessie Smith did the first popular version. In those days, though, many artists performed and recorded the same songs.

qe hermosa version! me encantaa!!

I wish I could delineate why I find this version of Bessie Smith's song so infuriating!

user
maybe because "SIR Eric Clapton" isn't 'down and out'? Bessie smith had more feeling in the singing, like she really meant it. Clapton is just performing a good song... No disrespect to Eric Clapton. I like the song done by him as well, but sometimes there's no matching the original's feel.

user
Eric Clapton has had his share of grief to be sure. I think it was a combination of factors other than Eric Clapton's "grief cred". For one, his back up and the audience are clapping out of sequence and there are probably a few other rendition misfires I could think of but I don't won't to be annoyed any further. BTW, yes, Bessie Smith has more feeling in her version without a doubt!

user
Agreed!

user
