He wrote this song for me & a few other guys. It was back in the blind river of Post default Services, in 1962, when he last saw us all alive. I was there with Peter C. Johnson, Vocals & Tuba, Ernie Boston, French horn & Sax, Al Mingo on Drums & Congas, and ol on Neil, Vocals, Harmonica & Guitar. I played some Harp that early morn, and I played like an angel only barely upstaged by Johnsons Tuba solo. Oh what a night we all had...LONG MAY YOU RUN!

user
yep and he did a version w/Nicollete Larson, the lady in question, and his sister..hopefully it is on Youtube or soon will be

user
cool I did not know that, I remember on a cross-country drive I made sure to note to myself when I passed thru Blind River

user
probably one of the best songwriters ever.

user
what note does he play with his haromcia

user
A D note I think it might cross harp which means you play a key on the guitar but not the same on the harmonica. Blues would be mostly used for cross harp. I'd say use a D key harmonica for this.

user
neil is amazing. his guitar playing is underrated

user
no it aint.

user
i meant is aint underrated by me,he is a genius, ive seen him twice and appreciate the magic.

Lyrics:
We've been through
some things together
With trunks of memories
still to come
We found things to do
in stormy weather
Long may you run.

Long may you run.
Long may you run.
Although these changes
have come
With your chrome heart shining
in the sun
Long may you run.

Well, it was
back in Blind River in 1962
When I last saw you alive
But we missed that shift
on the long decline
Long may you run.

Long may you run.
Long may you run.
Although these changes
have come
With your chrome heart shining
in the sun
Long may you run.

Maybe The Beach Boys
have got you now
With those waves
singing "Caroline No"
Rollin' down
that empty ocean road
Gettin' to the surf on time.

Long may you run.
Long may you run.
Although these changes
have come
With your chrome heart shining
in the sun
Long may you run.
