Amazing how children see death of a parent. They forever become a mythical wonderful person and you always wonder why they left.

Perhaps the greatest song ever written/performed by Madonna that slipped under the radar. While she has grown over the years with style and voice, I still believe she is at her best with the ballads like this ("You'll See", "Live To Tell", "Rain", "Oh Father among others). Her voice is aching with sentiment and emotion. Clearly a meaningful song from the heart by her that honors her moth in a beautiful way. The piano is exquisite, the strings envelop the scene nicely. Really shows her talent. A+

moth* was meant to be "mother" but text room ran out. Just wanted to clarify. Thanks for posting this; it is something for all fans to enjoy, ponder, and shed tears over. Also, the collage of pictures is nicely portrayed in backdrop with the song. Simply marvelous and beautiful.

exactly, she showed so much understanding and maturity with this album, but above all talent. its a shame that people havent seen that yet. "like a prayer" is so emotional deep and beautyfull album, even the music critics aplauded to it. so personal and powerfull, influced by real music, its probably one of the highest achievements of pop music. not even michael jackson has released this good album. its real musical masterpiece of the late 80s.

Well said. Thanks alot for the feedback. The album as a whole was indeed a masterpiece that was entertaining and memorable both in sound and word. She really stood out here with such clever craftsmanship. Take care and best wishes.

Lyrics:
Little girl, don't you forget her face
Laughing away your tears
When she was the one, who felt all the pain

Little girl, never forget her eyes
Keep them alive inside
I promise to try, it's not the same

Keep your head held high, ride like the wind
Never look behind, life isn't fair
That's what you said, so I try not to care

Little girl, don't run away so fast
I think you forgot to kiss, kiss her goodbye

Will she see me cry when I stumble and fall?
Does she hear my voice in the night when I call?
Wipe away all your tears, it's gonna be all right

I fought to be so strong, I guess you knew
I was afraid, you'd go away, too

Little girl, you've got to forget the past
And learn to forgive me
I promise to try but it feels like a lie

Don't let memory play games with your mind
She's a faded smile frozen in time
I'm still hanging on but doing it wrong

Can't kiss her goodbye but I promise to try
