It's about the timeless bond that was created in the coming days of the Mexican War. The Mexican soldiers marched into battle never thinking they could lose and a gypsy camp follower girl falls in love with a cannonfodder soldier who knew how to strum an odd tune or two on the guitar. Their lives were hopeless but in those days under the starlight it brought meaning and happiness to their minuscule lives.
