David Gilmour is the cleanest guitar player ever!!! he can make it sound so easy but its really hard

Syd couldn't play well, but he sure had a 'feel' which IMO Gilmour lacks. Gilmour is more of an 'ordinary' guitarist with characteristic style and a few good ideas concerning mainly the sound of his guitar over the time. Syd was an artist and what he did was 'expression' by use of the guitar. You can't simply judge him by terms of 'guitar technique' or 'skills'. it's something completely different, and for me as a an art form it's far more convincing than loads of the later Floyd material.cheers

"A little too much of a musician to appreciate them?" Wow. He should hear modern music!! I love classical and jazz music, Ive been classically trained in piano. But I still like Pink Floyd! In fact, I love them.

whoa...calm down for one. Syd Barrett was nothing compared to David Gilmour. Now that does not diminish Barrett simply because there aren't too many people on this planet who can hold a candle to David Gilmour, except for maybe Hendrix, Page, and Clapton. So in context, Barrett is just OK. But compared to the average guitarist, he's fairly good.
