Elton John had to fill out his MCA contract. He mailed in the last album, "Victim of Love" He writes none of the music, and plays none of the instruments. None of his regular bandmates were involved, and Pete Belotte made his first and last appearence producing. The two singles (Johnny B Goode and the title track) hardly saw the light of the Billboard charts. The whole album was done with a continuous disco beat that spanned the tracks, and the album was soon remaindered to the dollar bin.

this is disgusting but not as unbearable as that awful judas priest version. go listen to the original or to hendrix's version.

i don't think anyone can cover this song correctly. Maybe it's cause they're missing the point that Chuck Berry brought dynamic to the vocals AND guitar. But everyone that covers it converts it to their archetypal sound, takes out guitar without a replacement, and then makes aimless changes in the lyrics that add nothing. Hopefully someone will get it right but Elton definitely didn't
