user thats correct ,John prided himself on how many vocal harmony parts they stacked, so there is no way they could sound "live" like their studio recordings, impossible..

user courtcol in your statement this is what i have been hearing for years. but i think you can hear the mama papa's magic in this song. only these four people have the mama's and papa's sound which is gone forever. ( the backing band not to good. )

user Well, as I said, I loved the M&Ps too...Cass, in particular. My comment was that this cut was NOT up to their standards. Aside from the lousy mixing job, they were singing flat a lot of the time; that could be due to faulty monitor feedback, too. Regardless of this one "bad" performance, they left a brilliant legacy of music.
